Frequently Asked Questions
The following are answers to a few questions that we have received frequently:
- Students can accept a first-round offer AND apply for programs in the second round. If the student accepts a first-round offer, they should ONLY apply to programs in the second round that they prefer to the first-round offer they accepted. The reason for this is that if a student accepts a first-round offer and then receives a second round offer, they will AUTOMATICALLY forfeit the first-round offer. They will NOT then be able to choose between the two offers.
- Students can accept a first-round offer AND still remain on any waitlists that they are on.
- If a student does not accept a first-round offer, there is no guarantee that they will receive any other offers, other than their neighborhood school.
- If a program has a status of 'Higher Rank Offered,' this means that they did not receive an offer or a waitlist number for that program because they got an offer from a program that you ranked higher on your application. The only way they can be considered for a program with a status of 'Higher Rank Offered' is to apply to it in the second round, if the program has seats available.
- 'Withdrawn from Waitlist' always appears on the confirmation page for the online account, but if there are no schools/programs listed below the 'Withdrawn from Waitlist' bar, the system isn't showing that the student has withdrawn from any waitlists.
- If a student's status for a program is "Not Eligible," they can apply to this program in the second round, if seats are available, even if they were not eligible because they did not meet the first-round cutoff score.
- Once the waitlist process opens, the student's online account will not show any changes to their waitlist number. If they want to know if their number has changed, they will need to contact the school directly.
